MATT Loveridge will win this year’s OSA Recruitment All Terrain Challenge barring a late disaster in Herm on friday night.
The back marker stormed to victory in Thursday’s five mile cliff path time-trial, posting a faster time than the one his big rival, Dave Emery, set in winning the race on the same course on day two.
Emery had run half-a- minute quicker than Loveridge with a 33-34 on Sunday, but this time Loveridge turned the table to win by 39sec. in 33-31.
Loveridge attacked from the start as he looked to close down on Emery, who began a minute ahead of him.
By Jerbourg he had eaten 15sec, into Emery’s initial advantage and he continued to make progress on the homeward stretch with its two big climbs.
Young George Mason also had a cracking stage and was fastest with a 34-32 until Emery and Loveridge suddenly appeared off the cliffs and into the finishing straight.
