Mud without the fun ??

Dave Emery pulled clear in the final quarter of the race with a characteristic surge to claim victory in the final FNB Cross Country event of the 2014/15 season but it was second placed Mike Wilesmith who claimed the overall title.

The race was run over a tough muddy 6.5 Mile course based at King George 5th playing fields with seemingly the quote of the weekend being “its a bit boggy in some places”.

It was a great day for the junior athletes as third placed runner, 16 year old Dan Galpin, ran strongly to cement his position in second place on the league podium.   15 year old Alex Rowe spent most of the race in fourth place tracking his training colleague before peeling off after 4 laps to win the 4.5 Mile Division 2 race from Sarah Mercier.  Mercier ran a strong race but having missed an earlier fixture could not put enough runners between her and Louise Perrio and Perrio was the winner of the leading woman prize for the 11th successive year.
