Keith Falla Memorial Cross Country

Jason James and Alan Rowe were the fortunate ones as early leader Martin Lewis of Charnwood had the misfortune of going off course just after halfway leaving it on a plate for Guernsey runners to post the second consecutive 1-2 of the weekend.

James proved too strong for veteran Rowe over the closing stages and came home 7 seconds clear in 26:48.

Louise Perrio followed up her strong run of the opening 10km event to lead the women home. Fittingly the field included Caroline Marler the widow of Keith Falla. Keith was Guernsey’s top middle distance runner of the early ’70s who was tragically killed in a traffic accident whilst training in New Zealand.  Keith’s family have been strong supporters of Guernsey Athletics.

The Colts & Juniors field was immensely strong and boasted 125 athletes.
