After last week’s  tightly contested Chertsey 10km event there was a familiar look about the top 5 places in today’s 5km park run event, Matt Loveridge was again the winner, this time in a personal best of 16:20,  but behind him the positions were shuffled round in an exciting sprint for the line that saw Jason James(16.27)  hold off Carl Holden (16:31).   Pete Amy(4th, 16:46) and Tristan Robilliard(5th,16:49) ensured the top 5 all ran personal course best times.

After narrowly falling the wrong side of the 20 minute barrier in her last 5k race Jenny James made no mistake this time to remove 35 seconds from her personal best to lead the women in with a time of 19 minutes 28 seconds. Sabrina Amy and Mel Nicolle were second and third women respectively.

At the head of the field Loveridge looked to have sealed victory early in the race as he quickly built up a 15 second lead and seemed to be heading for an untroubled victory but the tight competitiveness of the group behind him saw them close the margin down to a mere 7 seconds as they raced for the line.

Steph Lambourne was the winner of the supporting newcomers 5km race from Katie Wallen.
