The glorious weather that had been forecast did not materialise at Footes Lane for the Intertrust Pre-Season Open on Sunday. Although it did stunt some of the performances – as did the absentees due to Easter holidays – there were still some good competitive bouts and solid early performances.
Toby Glass went straight under the 60sec mark in the U17 400m hurdles – something which he has only done once before- with 59.9.
In the 1500m, U15 Eliza Mason took the honours and was less than 2sec outside her PB, having front-run the majority of the race following Summer Woodhead’s striking first lap.
The sprint hurdles saw a PB and strong season opener for U13 Ben Solway who posted a 13.2sec clocking for the 75mH.
The highlight in the field was Island Games fifth placer James Bougourd starting his season with a solid 52.34m as he aims to build on his maiden year in the sport.
