Congratulations to the 74 runners who started their 2017 athletics year with some strong running in good conditions for the GIAAC new year’s handicap race. It was good to see Michel Davy leading home the men’s race in a very respectable 44 minutes off an eight minute handicap(actual time 36:35). Likewise Katie Watson picked her way through the field to be our first female finisher off the same handicap as Michel.
Three runners dipped under 30 minutes, James De Garis, Tristan Robilliard and Pete Amy. Amy’s PB time of under 27 minutes bodes well for the Hampshire championships over the coming weekend.
There was also quality running over the juniors race. James Goubert and Vicky Hancock led home a strong field of athletes who used the event as race practice for the under 13/15 age group county championships next week.
As always thanks to volunteers and helpers to numerous to mention but including: Linda Moroney, Wicksy, Mick Perrio, , Gill Quigley, Warren Mauger, Warwick Helps, Mike Batiste, Emma Beardsell, Nikki Scott, Beccy Whitmore, Catherine Sinclair-Stott, Sarah Mercier, Alun Williams, Louise Perrio.
