Ultra specialist Tiaan Erwee extended his sequence of Full Cliff path “Dogbreaker” victories to three and crossed the line of the 15 mile event in 1 hr 51 minutes 45 seconds with a convincing 10 minute margin over Tristan Robilliard with Luke Richards Third. Caroline Creed was the leading woman with a solid 2 hr 26 minute clocking four minutes clear of Vanessa Rodrigues with Bev Dereham in third.
Despite a sub 17 minute clocking and a second place in the 5k Runway Run only 10 hours earlier Erwee immediately hit the front and already had a 100m margin as the runners made the first climb at La Valette only half a mile into the race.
By the 8 mile mark at Petit Bot the lead was up to 5 minutes and it extended from there.
Robilliard, Richards and Jason James were together at halfway but the gaps between them extended over the Petit Bot- Pleinmont section.
After a few years of lower numbers the popularity of longer cliff path races is on the rise with 58 competing the half distance and 46 the full 15 Miles.
