Richard Wickins(above- image courtesy Phil Nicolle), a regular Guernsey parkrun entrant, was the convincing winner of the Guernsey athletics New Years Day Handicap. His time of 41 minutes 15 seconds off a 7 minute handicap made him a 4 minute winner over second placed Will Green. The first female home was the improving Rosie Williams who completed the windy course in 47 minutes(net 38:38).
Handicap back marker Pete Amy was fastest overall in 27minutes 53 seconds whilst fastest woman overall was Jersey visitor Katie Silva with an actual time of 34minutes 50seconds. Katie has been a regular competitor at island games level at both track and field and triathlon.
Amongst the juniors Ilan Godet improved on his boxing day performance to win the 2.8 mile short course.
The timekeepers and recorders had their work cut out as 60 of the 77 athletes finished within 4 minutes of each other.
