Ryan Burling continued to show great form as he headed the 5,000m with a sub-15min clocking and a PB. Louise Perrio was the leading female with a 17:25 clocking. 20 athletes toed the start line for the first long distance track event of the season.
In the shortest event of the night, Isaac Powers came home in a marginal PB to start his outdoor campaign well, whilst the fast-starting Kate Bain was the fastest female on show marginally outside her best mark from last year.
Alex Rowe set a very good marker in his debut 2,000m steeplechase with 6:13.5 – showing he looks a likely English Schools Champs competitor again as he did 2 years ago over 1500m steeplechase where he came 5th in the event. Chris Bain looked assured in his first ever attempt at 1500m steeplechase and took the victory with a strong finish.
