Milk Dash Results
Over 50 youngsters took part in the Guernsey Dairy ‘Milk Dash’ races held at Saumarez Park on Friday evening as a precursor to the half marathon. Youngsters Under 8s ran in either 400m or 800m races. The 400m race was won by Zach Le Sauvage whilst the 800m race saw Seth Le Tissier coming home first.
The mile race saw some very impressive times with many of the athletes finishing in under seven minutes. Rupert Wilson and Charlie Hynes, both selected to represent Guernsey in the junior interinsular in July, looked particularly sharp coming home in under 6 minutes. The vast majority of the athletes were from schools that do The Daily Mile which is clearly paying dividends for their fitness.
The final race of the day was a 5k race for pupils in year 7 and above. This was a high-quality race with Guernsey athletics club members taking the opportunity to race over a longer distance. All athletes came home in 23 minutes and the first three athletes, Summer Woodhead, Gian-Luca Robilliard and Jack Le Tissier, all finished impressively in under 20 minutes.
