The Fort Group series has provided inclusive racing through the summer and it was bought to a close in similar fashion as the range of abilities were catered for not only across the race but also within the 2 person teams.
Each runner had to run twice over the 1250m Saumarez Park loop alternating with their partner to complete a total distance of 5k and whilst Island Games finalists such as Richard Bartram(partnered by Catherine Griggs) and Alex Rowe(Daniel Le Messurier) slugged it out for the individual honour of fastest time it was left to the more consistent pairing of Simon Ingrouille and Mikey “no relation” Ingrouille to come clear with a solid win.
The pairing of Steve Manklow and Mark Palfrey were a good second whilst Father and Daughter duo of David and Summer Woodhead had the honour of first family team ahead of twin brothers Tom and George Nichols.
Bartram’s opening Leg of 3:33 was the fastest of the day from Alex Rowe’s 3:40 with George Mason and Isaac Powers both running 3:48. Jenny James ran the fastest women’s leg of 4:10 from Summer Woodhead’s 4:17 and Mel Nicolle’s 4:30.
