From his base in Wales Luke Williams(24:52 5m, 4:31 1m) was the fastest overall runner across the two legs with Jenny James(28:11, 4:57) the leading woman. It was Jenny however who took the ‘overall title’ courtesy of the 88% grading average afforded to women bringing her times to 24:49, 4:22 and winning by a mere 12 seconds.
Over 70 people across the two islands took part in the event.
Despite being the ‘virtual’ away team and having fewer runners Jersey put in a cracking set of times with good consistency over the 5 mile longer leg in particular but Guernsey’s overall strength meant a 5 minute victory and a 2:09:05 time for the 26 mile total distance.

Following the popularity of the virtual 5k road relays and the focus it provided for a wide range of club members we are holding a follow up. Runners are invited to post a 1 mile time (Strava/Garmin) run on Thursday April 30th or Friday May 1st and/or a 5 mile time run on Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd May.
Women’s times will be gender graded by a factor of 0.88 maintaining the importance of their performances.
Runners were expected to adhere to social distancing guidelines and run solo, not meet in a group, avoid busy areas etc, not drive to run (as listed on gac site). The coastal paths are a bad move, please consider using courses with minimal road junction crossings/or free from pedestrians in latter stages…our senses sometimes leave us in the push for the line.
