Footes Lane track is now closed for the rest of the summer due to the replacement of the track surface and extension to 8-lanes for 2020 onwards. Below are the details for alternative training venues.
Senior endurance group: Cambridge Park has been marked with a 400m track and will be the default venue for endurance training. Training times are 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturday mornings. Please note that the booking cannot be exclusive due to the public nature of the park so be mindful of other users.
Colts and junior athletes: Training times will remain the same as usual but will be conducted at the Memorial Field on the opposite side of Footes Lane from the track. The club are working with Elizabeth College and hope to have a full track marked in the coming days.
Any Development or Performance group athletes may receive direct communication from their coaches regarding training during the summer – it is up to these coaches as to whether they use either of the above venues or even other alternatives. Parents and athletes are encouraged to communicate regularly with their coach to ensure they always know where training is taking place.
A small section of track is being retained for use by Island Games athletes only. This again will be used via strong communication between individual coaches and athletes.
